Right now I am truly obsessed with spinning scrappy yarns! Years ago I found a garbage bag of wool and mohair yarn scraps at a second hand store. I have no idea what they were for but the colours and textures were amazing so I took it home, thinking I would one day find a use for this good stuff!! I have seen people on Instagram spinning these totally cool yarns made with scraps of yarn and I love them and became obsessed with how to make them. I remembered my garbage bag of yarn scraps and went to it like a mad woman. The excitement! Finally a use for my beautiful yarn scraps!!
I had a couple nice but uninspiring batts kicking around so I stripped them down, added a bit to my drum carder and started to lay on the cut up scraps!! YeeHaw! Drum carder rodeo! The carder was bucking the whole time as I added scraps, this was the most action it had had in a long time!
The batts ready to spin.
I wanted maximum yardage and to spin it big and chunky to showcase the scrappy bits so I used the Overdrive Head on my Majacraft Aura. Its’ bobbin is huge and holds a LOT of yarn!
Yarn is a great accessory…especially when you have 60 metres of huge, chunky, colourful fluff!
More Practice!! You can really never have too much!!!
